DPSG was formed in 2007 to address the recurring problems experienced by design professionals. DPSG draws on years of experience by the lawers of Hamilton Moon Stephens advising and defending design professionals in and around North Carolina, from contract negotiation through litigation. Recognizing the need for a forum to provide the design professional community a place to share its experiences and aid in the development of practices aimed at avoiding litigation, designprofessional.org was created to facilitate discussion, idea-exchange, and alerts on emerging trends and changes in the laws affecting design professionals, as well as serving as a resource for design professionals and their counsel. The lawyers of The Van Winkle Firm in Asheville and the insurance professionals from Insurance Management Consultants, Inc. joined DPSG in 2008 to further these goals.

DPSG provides annual seminars for design professionals, one in Charlotte and one in Asheville. The seminars are a good chance to get up to speed on current issues of interest to the design professional community, network with your colleagues, and fulfill your continuing education requirements.
